Meridia: Meridia, a prescription diet drug used to treat obesity, has been associated with adverse cardiovascular events, including more than 30 deaths.
A consumer advocacy group, Public Citizen, petitioned the FDA to withdraw Meridia on March 19, 2002. The FDA said they would take the petition under advisement.
